the eco-reading project

Every book plants a future.

Takarda means paper and paper starts as a tree. Your donation funds books, shelving and seedlings for communities across Northern Nigeria.

How your donation moves

One donation, three things it pays for — book, shelf, and shade.

Collect & circulate

We gather finished books from club members and partner donors, then route them to the community that needs them most.

Build reading corners

Shelving, seating and a standing collection of 40+ books, set up in a school, market square or community hall.

Plant a tree per corner

Every reading corner we open is paired with a small grove shade for the readers, and a nod to where paper comes from.

A few questions

Where exactly does my donation go?

Funds are split between book acquisition, shelving materials, and seedlings/planting labour for each reading corner. We publish a running tally on this page.

Can I donate books instead of money?

Yes — email takardahub@gmail.com and we'll arrange a drop-off point at our next meet-up.

Is my payment secure?

All donations are processed by Paystack, which handles the card and transfer details directly — Takarda never sees or stores your payment information.
